Outside Lands returns to three-day schedule for last year of contract

In the last year of its contract to perform in Golden Gate Park, Outside Lands will return to its three-day schedule, the organizers announced Monday when they released the August 12–14 concert dates.

Organizers at Another Planet Entertainment had a hard time booking a Friday headliner last year so they chopped it off the schedule and ended up scaling back their daily ticket prices by $15, to $75 per day.

But right now they are only selling “Eager Beaver” tickets for the entire three days at $149.50.

Last year “Eager Beaver” two-day, advance-sale tickets were $125, and then $140 when those ran out.

The 2010 lineup for the third annual Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival included headliners Kings of Leon and Furthur featuring Phil Lesh and Bob Weir, along with the Strokes, My Morning Jacket, Phoenix, Social Distortion, Levon Helm and Al Green.

This year’s lineups have not been released yet, but it wouldn’t be unusual to find a clue in your mailbox.

Another Planet Entertainment’s lease agreement with the Recreation and Park Department is in its final year. The City will collect $1.05 million for rent and $1 per ticket or 10 percent of sales.
