The Transbay Joint Powers Authority, the body overseeing San Francisco’s massive new Transbay Transit Center project, unanimously approved its operating and capital budgets for the upcoming fiscal year on Thursday.
The TJPA’s capital budget will cover $220.2 million, almost all of which will go toward professional services related to the design and construction of the transit depot, set to be located in The City’ SoMa District.
The operating budget for the TJPA was approved at $4.2 million. That will mainly cover staff salaries and rent for the agency’s headquarters.
Projected to eventually cost $4.2 billion, the Transbay Transit Center is slated to one day host 11 different transit agencies, including the state’s high-speed rail system.
