Om Records rocks another gem

Congratulations are in order for San Francisco’s own top-flight dance/electronic imprint, Om Records.

Their latest release from UK duo Groove Armada, “Black Light,” was just nominated for a Grammy in (of course) the Best Electronic/Dance Album category.

Hats off!

But for the band, this marks their third nomination, overall — they also got nods in 2003 (“Superstylin’”) and 2004 (“Easy”), so they’ll be no strangers to the ceremonial red carpet. But “Black Light” deserves every kudo.

This sixth set features cameos from Bryan Ferry, Nick Littlemore, SaintSaviour and — on the hit iTunes download/single “History” — Will Young.

“History” has also just found high-profile placement in TV series like “Moving Target” and “CSI — Miami,” with another “Black Light” track, “Paper Romance,” landing on the soundtrack for EA Sports new “FIFA 2011” game.

So it’s a time-tested truth — twelve years on, Andy Cato and Tom Findlay are as vital (and award-worthy) as ever.
