With all eyes on the Gulf of Mexico’s catastrophic oil spill — which continues to gush — and memories still fresh of San Francisco Bay’s 2007 Cosco Busan oil spill, environmental officials will hold a forum Tuesday on how to better respond to such disasters.
The forum is titled “Oil Spills in San Francisco Bay: Preparing a Better Response.” Panelists will discuss at the impact of the Cosco Busan and Dubai Star oil spills, as well as the current state of oil spill prevention and response in the Bay.
The forum is being hosted by Pacific Environment and the San Francisco Estuary Partnership. Attending will be representatives from the Pacific Coast Federation of Fisherman’s Associations, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Office of Spill Prevention and Response.
The event is being held at 9 a.m. in the auditorium of the State Building, 1515 Clay St., Oakland.
