Obama goes to MTV in search of young voters

President Obama is scheduled to take part in an MTV and BET youth town hall meeting as he continues to reach out to younger voters.

While President spent his Rolling Stone interview lecturing liberals to shake off their lethargy and buck up, this time he’ll take questions from the studio audience and via Twitter. Obama has suffered a drop in youth support, as Mary Katherine Ham reported, A September Rock the Vote poll showed the Democratic advantage in party affiliation has been cut in half since 2008.

This forum helps the president to appear engaged with the ‘youth vote,’ but it means he will likely have to answer questions about gay rights, the war in Afghanistan, and his thoughts on marijuana legalization.

The live town hall will air on October 14 on MTV, BET and even CMT which means that fans of the show “Trick My Truck” will be in for a big surprise.

MTV has changed since Bill Clinton famously went ‘Eye to Eye With MTV Generation’ as he campaigned for president. Back in 1992, young people were probably still watching music videos, but in 2010, MTV is most famous for the glorious train wreck that is Jersey Shore.

Which means that he’s likely to be asked another question about Snooki.
