Nonprofit makes testing possible for students

Leah Johnston is the founder of APT Scholars, a nonprofit that aims to help students pay for study courses for graduate-level entry tests, will be raising funds by giving away pie from 7 to 9 tonight at Adobe Books, 3166 16th St.

Tell me about your project. The APT Scholars intends to fund test preparations for the tests that kind of guard graduate-level studies in our country, the LSATs for law school, the MCAT for medical school and the GRE for most other graduate programs.

Why support people going to the study programs? It ends up you really can pay for a better score. I want more people to have access to that ability

Why did you become interested in this?
I watched a lot of my friends go through it and could see that money made such a big difference.

What’s the pie making about?
The Ladies Pie Society is a side project that I have participated in for many years, the idea being to bake pie and then give it away. It works well as a fundraiser to get people to come and learn more about whatever we’re raising money for.
