San Francisco just confirmed its mutual respect and admiration for Barcelona, Spain with another sister-city contract.
Mayor Gavin Newsom signed the agreement with Barcelona officials Monday. According to the Mayor’s Office, the partnership will work together to promote and broaden the cultural, academic and economic relations between the two cities.
“San Francisco has an established world-class reputation for innovation and the celebration of cultural diversity,” Newsom said in a released statement. “Our sister-city relationship with Barcelona will expand our relationships throughout the world and forge a new and stronger cultural and economic ties with Spain.”
San Francisco is also in a sister-city agreement with Shanghai, China. Newsom and dozens of officials visited the Chinese sister city last month.
