The rally outside of City Hall calling on Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi to step aside amid allegations of domestic violence had an unexpected person on the sidelines -- Mirkarimi's wife.

Eliana Lopez raised a lot of questions when she was spotted observing from the steps of City Hall a group of women calling for her husband to step aside during the investigation into allegations of domestic violence on New Year’s Eve when he allegedly grabbed her arm hard enough to leave a bruise.
The event, led by Beverly Upton with the San Francisco Domestic Violence Consortium, began at 2pm on Thursday.
Lopez was photographed near the rally by Luke Thomas of the online site Fog City Journal. She was photographed hours later in the same attire by The San Francisco Examiner walking down the hallway of City Hall’s fourth floor where the sheriff’s office is located.
Mirkarimi was apparently holding his wife’s hand and car keys in his other hand.
It is unclear why she stopped by the rally. Lopez’s attorney and Mirkarimi’s spokesman did not return calls. A City Hall insider said she had come to City Hall to pick up their child.
