It’s the case of the pointless punch.
A man with a swollen-shut eye and a bloody lip told cops he was walking at the intersection of Mission and Bosworth streets in The City on Sunday morning when one of five suspects in a group walked up to him, punched him, but did not rob him, police said.
The victim said he was walking home around 12:50 a.m. when the punks attacked him as he waited for the signal at the intersection, police said.
“The suspects were speaking Spanish and laughing with each other,” cops said. “One of the suspects stepped forward and punched the victim one time on the face, causing the injuries. The victim fell to the ground and the suspects grabbed at him, but did not take any of his property.”
They just ran away, police said.
The suspects were described as Hispanic males. One was in his early 30s with shoulder length hair, a light mustache and wearing a flannel shirt, police said.
