  • A man allegedly used a paring knife to slash his roommate during an argument in the Sunset area Wednesday morning.

A man slashed his roommate after an argument in their Sunset district home early Wednesday morning, police said.

Thomas Mischel, 53, of San Francisco, was arrested on assault charges after he reportedly slashed his roommate with a paring knife, police Officer Gordon Shyy said.

The incident occurred about 1 a.m. in the 2600 block of 37th Avenue. The two roommates were apparently drinking together before they began arguing. Things escalated when Mischel cut the victim in his face, torso and arm. It was unclear what the argument was about.

Mischel remained on the scene until police arrived and was promptly arrested, Shyy said.

The victim was taken to the hospital for his injuries, which were reportedly not life threatening.
