Man hits female roommate in head with hammer

A 47-year-old San Francisco woman was clubbed over the head with a hammer by her roommate early Tuesday morning, police said.

The suspect, a 48-year-old man, began “making irrational comments” before unleashing the hammer around 2:40 a.m. at a home in the 1000 block of Mission Street, police said. The woman temporarily lost consciousness but called 911 when she awoke, police said.

Her injuries were non-life-threatening, police said.

“I don’t know what caused the suspect to do that to his roommate,” police Officer Albie Esparza said. “He was at the scene when police responded.”

Cops found the suspect in the hallway when they arrived and arrested him, police said.
