Police are investigating an aggravated assault that seriously injured a man in the Mid-Market area on Tuesday, Officer Gordon Shyy said.

The 49-year-old victim was found half conscious in the unit block of Mason Street about 6:50 p.m. and was possibly having a seizure, Shyy said.

The suspect in the assault was a woman of unknown age, possibly wearing a pink hooded sweatshirt, Shyy said.

The victim's injuries were originally considered life threatening and he was taken to the hospital for treatment. As of Wednesday afternoon, the victim's condition stabilized and his injuries are now considered less severe, Shyy said.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crime to contact them at their anonymous tipline (415) 575-4444 or contact the Tenderloin Station investigations unit at (415) 345-7300.
