Man accused of stabbing construction workers booked on attempted murder, assault with deadly weapon charges

The homeless man arrested in the stabbing of two construction workers on Memorial Day in the Tenderloin has been identified by police as 49-year-old Alton Ray Moore, police Officer Albie Esparza said.

Moore was booked into jail on charges of attempted murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

The incident that preceded his arrest began at Geary and Larkin streets around 2 p.m. when the two construction workers confronted Moore, who is alleged to have been urinating at their construction site. They reportedly asked him to stop and he is alleged to have brandished a knife and stabbed the two men.

One of the victims in the assault is still in critical condition, Esparza said. The other victim is stable.

A witness followed Moore and alerted police to his location.

He was arrested a short distance away at Larkin and Olive streets, Esparza said.
