Like a lot of folks, Randy Blythe can sense something in the wind, some sort of grid-failing, “Road Warrior” finale that’s fast approaching, possibly signaling the end of humanity itself.

No joke — the Lamb Of God frontman has even taken a desert-held course in survival training, and he’s amassed a suitably large cache of weapons for just such a grim eventuality.

So the Ken Adams-composed cover shot from the band’s new “Resolution,” which streets Jan. 24, is exactly what you’d expect from this dark metal doomsayer: A parched, cracked desert with an ominous plume of smoke billowing up from the horizon. The pre-order for it starts today at www.lamb-of-god.com.

“Resolution” follows the outfit’s Grammy-nominated “Wrath,” was produced by Josh Wilbur, and tracked at various studios in Virginia and New York.

On Nov. 15, Blythe and crew will announce the first leg of their upcoming two-year world tour. And naturally, the song titles are suitably Apocalyptic: “Straight for the Sun,” “Desolation,” “Ghost Walking,” “Guilty,” “The Undertow,” “The Number Six,” “Barbarosa,” “Invictus,” “Cheated,” “Insurrection,” “Terminally Unique,” “To The End,” “Visitation,” “King Me.”

Who knows? Lamb Of God just might wind up providing the soundtrack for the end of the world.
