Contrary to reports that Kate Hudson has no plans to marry Matthew Bellamy, the U.K.’s Sun declares that the “Bride Wars” star and the Muse frontman just got engaged. The couple, who recently confirmed they’re expecting a baby, are said to have traveled to London to celebrate with his family.
“It was an intimate party,” a source relayed. “They kept their engagement secret as they wanted to celebrate with their nearest and dearest before it became public knowledge.”
But apparently Kate herself wasn’t in on this news. Asked whether she and her boyfriend of nine months are indeed going to tie the knot, she responded, “No, no, not that I know of! I don’t like putting that sort of pressure on it and I don’t feel it necessary to get married.”
Explained the actress, who has a 7-year-old son, Ryder, with ex-husband Chris Robinson, “I am 31, I already have one child, and have had one divorce, so it is not necessarily the golden ticket. I just want to be happy.”
Well, the unmarried life seems to be working out just fine for her mom and de facto dad, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. We can see why Kate would take the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach to relationships.
The tabloids love to recycle the same old rumors about Jennifer Aniston. Either she’s secretly reuniting with Brad Pitt, or she’s planning to have a baby as a single mother. At this point, we’d bet that her publicist wakes up in the middle of the night shouting, “There is no truth to this story!”
This week, it’s the baby rumor that’s in play, as Star magazine trumpets the trumped-up news that the former “Friends” star arranged an adoption on a trip to Mexico. The tabloid claims the papers have been “signed and sealed” and the actress will “have the child in her arms” by the time she turns 42 on Feb. 11. Supposedly, she’ll use the same nanny as BFF Courteney Cox.
But surprise, surprise ... “It is completely false,” her flack told People magazine, for perhaps the 7,000th time. “Jennifer is not adopting a baby from Mexico, nor does she have a nursery in her home and she has not hired a nanny. It is all a work of fiction.”
OK, but she is secretly getting back together with Brad Pitt, right? Right?
Padma Lakshmi is said to be “devastated” by her baby daddy’s very public bid for custody of their daughter Krishna. Claiming he doesn’t get to spend enough time with the almost-1-year-old — just seven hours a week, according to reports — Adam Dell has filed papers seeking increased visitation rights.
“She said, ‘I’m living in a nightmare,’” a pal confides to People. “She’s a single working mother who is trying very hard to have a peaceful and calm environment for her daughter. The recent events are making it difficult.”
The friend says the model turned foodie has “encouraged Mr. Dell to be in Krishna’s life” — but since she’s still nursing, it makes sense that she’s the primary caregiver, and the father’s presence “will increase as Krishna ages — as it’s appropriate.”
Padma’s attorney says in a statement that she is “saddened and gravely disappointed that Mr. Dell has chosen a very public means of filing his petition with the court rather than doing so in a confidential or sealed manner, which is customary in cases involving a very young child.”
But Adam’s lawyer counters, “There was no desire for publicity and Adam regrets that there is some — but [he] can’t help it given that he was forced to go to court to assert his rights as a father.”
Sounds to us like they both need to stop talking to the press and focus on what is best for their daughter.
