‘Jump Around’ San Francisco, House of Pain is back

No, your mind wasn’t playing tricks on you.

That really was the name House of Pain you saw listed in the Fillmore ads, playing the historic venue tomorrow night on its 20th anniversary tour. And yes, they really are back together again, with the unbeatable lineup of DJ Lethal (fresh from what must have been a mind-numbing gig in Limp Bizkit), plus Danny Boy and frontman Everlast, who’ve been anchoring a little combo called La Coka Nostra. And yes, they’re actually planning to record a comeback album.

It’s sad, really.

After breaking up way back in ’96, the faux-Celtic hip-hoppers were relegated to the history books thanks to their worldwide smash “Jump Around,” which hit No. 3 stateside and No. 6 in Ireland.

But alas, VH1 went on to feature House Of Pain on its “One Hit Wonders” special, even though “Jump Around” is still being employed today in film and television soundtracks.

Everlast, of course, went on to shake his HOP roots with a rock-solid folk/blues career. But he and his old mates are serious about this return — as soon as they finish this (re)introductory American tour, they’re heading down to Australia for a slew of dates.
