Jogger has run-in with car and fist

The passenger of a car assaulted a jogger who complained the vehicle’s driver had cut him off at a city crosswalk Monday, police said.

The runner was in the crosswalk at Page and Laguna streets around 8:15 a.m. when he was cut off, police said, citing “many witnesses.”

The runner stopped, placed his hands on the driver’s window and asked, “Why did you do this?” police said.

The runner then continued around the front of the car, police said.

A passenger in the car then got out and “punched the runner so forcefully that he fell and struck his head, causing him to lose consciousness,” police said.

Cops were called and witnesses provided descriptions of the male suspect and the car. The victim could not recall the incident, police said.

“The suspect has been identified and an arrest is imminent,” police said.

The victim is expected to make a full recovery.
