Joan Rivers' condition was stable Thursday evening after she was rushed to a New York hospital in cardiac arrest, but she remained in a medically induced coma.

The New York Daily News said the 81-year-old comedy legend was undergoing a surgical procedure on her vocal cords Thursday when she went into cardiac and respiratory arrest.

"Her family wants to thank everybody for their outpouring of love and support," a spokesman for Mount Sinai Hospital said. Her daughter, Melissa, reportedly rushed to New York after hearing the news.

The hard-working comedian had performed Wednesday night, trying out new material and aiming her acid-tongued quips at her age. According to one audience member, she joked, 'I'm 81 -- I could go at any moment!"

Fans and friends expressed support on Twitter.

"I'm thinking about you, @Joan_Rivers, and sending lots of love your way," Ellen DeGeneres tweeted.

Rick G. Rosner, a writer for "Jimmy Kimmel Live," referenced Rivers' longtime gig savaging red-carpet gowns, tweeting, "Redo: Should love, cherish Joan Rivers while we still can, even if she called your Emmys gown 'an explosion in a cat food factory.'"

DAD NOT INVITED TO JOLIE-PITT WEDDING

Dying for juicy details on Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's hush-hush wedding? Don't ask father-of-the-bride Jon Voight, 'cause he wasn't invited.

Voight was informed of the nuptials Thursday during an "Inside Edition" interview about his Emmy-nominated role on Showtime's "Ray Donovan," according to Us Weekly.

"That's nice," he replied.

Voight and Jolie's relationship has been rocky since he blamed her "mental problems" on his divorce from her mother, TMZ says.

The Associated Press broke the news about the wedding, which was held Saturday at a small chapel at the Chateau Miraval, the couple's home in Southern France. Pitt and Jolie, who have six kids, previously said they wouldn't marry until same-sex marriage was legal in the U.S., but appear to have settled for marriage equality in 19 states and the District of Columbia.
