Huntsman campaign manager resigns

The campaign manager for Republican presidential candidate and former Minnesota Gov. Jon Huntsman has resigned Thursday.

Communications director Matt David is to replace Susie Wiles, according to campaign officials. Huntsman will announce the changes in his campaign staff Thursday.

"Susie has served the campaign well and was vital in getting it off the ground in such a short time-frame," Senior Campaign Adviser John Weaver said in a statement. "Now the campaign is moving into phase two which will be more aggressive from a messaging and tactical standpoint and Matt is prepared to take that on."

The campaign only cited the resignation as a result of the campaign changing gears.

“Now the campaign is moving into phase two, which will be more aggressive from a messaging and tactical standpoint, and Matt is prepared to take that on,” Weaver said.

In a recent survey by the Washington Post and ABC News, Hunstman lagged behind other Republicans with just 3 percent of those polled saying they would vote for the governor.
