House passes budget measure, but 59 Republicans vote 'no'

With support from 81 Democrats more than making up for the defections of 59 Republicans, the House of Representatives passed a bill funding the government for the rest of the year, by a 260 to 167 vote.

The media will probably play up the number of GOP defections, but what happened was that a lot of Republicans waited until after the bill had acquired enough votes , and then voted no. So Speaker Rep. John Boehner, R-Oh., likely could have had more Republican votes if he needed them.

The bill now moves on to the Senate, where a vote is expected this afternoon.
