You may have noticed the vacant hippo exhibit at the San Francisco Zoo is still, well, vacant.
That’s because Tucker, the father of a surprise baby boy that was one hippo too many for the exhibit in Topeka, Kan., was not interested in getting into his traveling crate.
He was supposed to arrive at the end of November, but “he just hesitated,” S.F. Zoo spokeswoman Lore Lamarca said.
And since ’tis the season, making other traveling arrangements for the hesitant hippo have become a hassle.
Now the zoo expects Tucker to make his debut in early January.
