Helpers House of Couture celebrates in style

Helpers House of Couture anniversary: On Aug. 7, philanthropist Joy Venturini Bianchi celebrated the third year of her charity-driven boutique with a cocktail party and sale. The event, held in The City, honored the life of designer Brenda Joyce Stowers, and supported Helpers of the Mentally Retarded, a group dedicated to serving the developmentally disabled.

Saks Fifth Avenue and League to Save Lake Tahoe luncheon: The Oscar de la Renta Resort 2012 Collection was the subject of this 42nd annual event, held Aug. 6 at the Fritz estate in Lake Tahoe. The highly anticipated fundraiser for the League to Save Lake Tahoe has evolved from a casual event that started in the 1960s when Bill Blass showed designs to a few loyal clients and friends at Lake Tahoe.

Oyster Cup tournament: Cerro Pampa Polo Club, a polo club in Petaluma, hosted the 10th annual Oyster Cup tournament on Aug. 6. The event benefited For the Bayou, a group founded in San Francisco in 2008 by Louisiana natives with a mission to increase awareness of the disappearing Louisiana coastal wetlands.
