As we mentioned here earlier, Guster’s Joe Pisapia had good reason for begging off the band’s current tour.
He’s heading out on tour with the Grammy-winning k.d. lang as part of her new combo The Siss Boom Bang, backing “Sing It Loud,” an album they co-produced in his backyard Middletree Studios in Nashville. And there’s a flurry of activity in the Canadian crooner’s camp this week.
If you pre-order the album via her website or her label’s site, you’ll get a free download of the unreleased track “Perfect World,” plus four exclusive bonus cuts available on that edition alone.
As this is the first rollicking combo lang has organized since her early days with The Reclines, she’s going all out touting the group.
The week of the album’s April 12 release, k.d. lang and The Siss Boom Bang will play “Sing” in its entirety at the Troubadour in Los Angeles on April 11, and at (le) Poisson Rouge in New York on April 14, before heading out to Indio’s Stagecoach Festival on May 1.
But this Sunday, March 13, the outfit will play a special John Varvatos-organized benefit at his West Hollywood boutique, benefitting the Rape Treatment Center’s model program Stuart House.
Tickets for the event are $200, and can be purchased at www.johnvarvatos.com. The eight-time Juno winner was also just nominated for her ninth Up North, for “Hallelujah Vancouver Winter 2010.” She’s singing it loud, indeed.
