Good Samaritan pulls Dick Van Dyke from burning vehicle

When all is bad with the world and you are feeling lost, take solace in the fact that Dick Van Dyke is still alive. In fact, he just cheated a fiery death.

The beloved 87-year-old star of “Mary Poppins,” “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” and, of course, “The Dick Van Dyke Show” was pulled from his burning Jaguar in L.A. after it burst into flames, according to TMZ.

Good Samaritan Jason Pennington says he saw an elderly man hunched over the wheel, but was able to pull him out of the vehicle as flames started tearing through the car. Van Dyke was OK and did not need medical attention.

Pennington is indeed a “fine four-fendered friend!”
