Giants sign first-round pick Arroyo

The Giants locked up their first-round draft pick Tuesday, agreeing to terms with high school shortstop Christian Arroyo.

Baseball America reported that Arroyo, who had committed to play at Florida next season, signed for $1,866,500, which was the amount slotted for the 25th overall pick.

"Proud to officially be a San Francisco Giant," Arroyo tweeted Tuesday. "Time to get to AT&T park ASAP and win a ring! Thanks for the support #SFgiants."

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Arroyo hit .524 (55-for-105), with 42 runs scored, 13 doubles, 11 home runs and 35 RBI for Hernando High School in Brooksville, Fla.

Arroyo, 18, earned MVP honors as he helped Team USA win gold at the International Baseball Federation's 18-and-under world championships in Seoul, South Korea, last summer.

In addition to Arroyo, the Giants have come to terms with 19 other players from the 2013 draft, including nine of their top 11 selections.
