El Camino remained closed as of 12:30 p.m. between Murchison and Trousdale drives, in front of the Burlingame Plaza shopping center, after police shut it down about an hour earlier due to flooding.
Around 11 a.m., cars were driving through at least six inches of water that covered all three lanes of the southbound roadway until a black Chevrolet SUV got stuck in the left lane. Police closed the roadway minutes later and a towing crew was working to rescue the car from the water.
As of 12:30, no city crews were on hand to pump the water out and clear the street. Officers did not have an estimate on when the street might reopen.
