The wait is over.
Some 15,000 parents who submitted applications to the San Francisco Unified School District last month in hopes of getting their children placed in their favorite schools this fall will find out the results this weekend.
According to district officials, 14,347 placement offers will be mailed out Friday.
This mailing will be the first wave of placement results under the new student assignment system approved one year ago. The new system is meant to be more focused on neighborhood schools.
Letters will be mailed to families who applied for kindergarten, sixth and ninth grades. Families accepting their placement have until April 15 to enroll in their school.
