  • Oakland Athletics relief pitcher Ryan Cook (48) pitches the ball against the Los Angeles Dodgers during the ninth inning at O.co Coliseum.

Right-hander Brandon McCarthy allowed two hits in seven scoreless innings to win his sixth consecutive decision as the A’s topped the Dodgers 3-0 at the Oakland Coliseum on Tuesday.

Seth Smith and Jonny Gomes had RBI singles in a three-run first inning to help Oakland win for the sixth time in seven games.

McCarthy (6-3) showed no rust from an 11-day layoff due to shoulder soreness, retiring the final eight batters he faced to remain unbeaten since April 21. He struck out five and walked one.

Grant Balfour pitched a scoreless eighth before Ryan Cook worked out of a jam in the ninth for his fourth save.

Dodgers starter Aaron Harang (5-4) was all over the place, walking a career-high eight batters and allowing three runs on three hits in 3²⁄³ innings. He struck out six and walked two batters in each of the first four innings before he was yanked with two outs in the fourth.

The A’s couldn’t take advantage of 10 walks, stranding 12 runners, but improved to 10-2 at home against the Dodgers in interleague play.

NOTES: The A’s agreed to terms with five players from the recent June draft. Shortstop Daniel Robertson (supplemental round), first baseman Matt Olson (supplemental round), shortstop Melvin Mercedes (16th round), pitcher Derek DeYoung (18th) and pitcher Tyler Johnson (33rd) agreed to terms. ... A’s right-handed reliever Andrew Carignan underwent successful reconstructive surgery to the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, which will force him to miss the remainder of the season. ... A’s right-hander Bartolo Colon is likely headed to the disabled list with a right oblique strain. Tyson Ross could be recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to take Colon’s next start.
