Father, son win contest for tickets to 49ers’ last Candlestick game

Daniel Pontes and his 6-year-old son have been chosen as the lucky winners of two tickets to today's last regular-season game for the 49ers at Candlestick Park, the Recreation and Park Department announced.

The father and son submitted a story and a photo about the "Niner fanatic" boy to win the department's ticket giveaway contest. Pontes also submitted a photo showing eight pages of his son's drawings, which resemble a football coach's playbook. This will be the younger Pontes' first 49ers game.

"I can't compete with some of the great Candlestick remembrances posted here, but I hope to create a lifetime memory for my son on Monday night. He's a 6-year-old Niners fanatic, and I promised to take him to a game this year," Pontes wrote. "This is going to be our last chance in 2013, and his last chance ever to check out the Stick before the move."

Hundreds of fans posted memories and anecdotes on the department's Facebook and Twitter pages documenting their favorite moments at the iconic stadium. Several fans included "The Catch," the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake and the Beatles' final concert in 1966.

"These contest entries attest to how special and iconic Candlestick Stadium is to so many fans and families," said Phil Ginsburg, Rec and Park general manager. "Congratulations to the winners."
