Elderly woman robbed in gutless Richmond assault

Gutless muggers threw an 84-year-old woman to the pavement Thursday in order to steal her purse in the Inner Richmond, police said.

The elderly woman survived the heartless attack in which her head struck cement in the area of Geary Boulevard and Third Avenue around 5:30 p.m., police said.

She was walking to her car when the thugs, described as black men in their 20s, pushed her to the ground, police said. The suspects then used an unknown tool to cut the victim’s purse strap. They fled with the purse in a green four-door Chevy Cavalier, police said.

There have been no arrests.

A witness provided the vehicle’s description. The car was last seen headed northbound on Second Avenue from Geary Boulevard, police said.

The woman complained of head pain, but was treated at the scene and released, police said.
