FAVORITE PLACE TO SHOP
Apple Store
WHERE: 1 Stockton St., at Ellis Street
WHAT: Easy way to keep on the cutting edge of technology
INFO: (415) 391-0202 or www.apple.com

I am a chic but also a geek, and anytime I’m in need of a concentrated dose of what the best of technology has to offer, I head there straight away.

FAVORITE PLACE TO EAT CHEAP
El Farolito
WHERE: 4817 Mission St., between 23rd and 24th streets
WHAT: Check out the Quesadilla Suiza
INFO: (415) 337-5500

The best, fastest, cheapest Mexican food you can get in The City. It’s all about the Quesadilla Suiza! You can get dinner for two and have leftovers for less than $10.

FAVORITE MUSEUM
California Academy of Sciences WHERE: 55 Music Concourse Drive, Golden Gate Park
WHAT: An amazing experience from top to bottom
INFO: (415) 379-8000 or www.calacademy.org

When I was a kid, I loved going to the aquarium and the zoo, and I still do. This place is amazing, from the living roof at the top to the tanks filled with jellyfish at the bottom. I also like the special nightlife events on Thursdays.

FAVORITE HOTEL
Clift Hotel
WHERE: 495 Geary St., between Taylor and Mason streets
WHAT: Warm and inviting even if you are a local
INFO: (415) 775-4700

A modern, warm and inviting place that can be used both as a local getaway or for out-of-town guests. Their restaurant, Asia de Cuba, has fantastic food, and the Redwood is one of my favorite places to hang out.

FAVORITE PLACE TO SHOP
Macy’s
WHERE: 170 O’Farrell St., between Stockton and Powell streets
WHAT: Special sales
INFO: (415) 397-3333 or www.macys.com

I shop there a couple of times per year, and I always make a point of hitting the Macy’s one-day sales.

FAVORITE NIGHTCLUB
Slide
WHERE: 430 Mason St., between Derby and Geary streets
WHAT: Mind-blowing sound system that they turn up as the night progresses
INFO: (415) 421-1916 or www.slidesf.com

Slide is a small, underground speakeasy which has a great local and international DJ four days a week. Get ready to dance to their state-of-the-art sound system — they pump it up louder the later it gets, so bring some earplugs.

FAVORITE PLACE TO GET A DRINK
Absinthe
WHERE: 398 Hayes St., at Gough Street
WHAT: They treat cocktails as an art form
INFO: (415) 551-1590 or www.absinthe.com

Hands down some of the most attentive bartenders making the most artistic drinks in The City. Get ready to have your taste buds quiver.

FAVORITE GROCERY STORE
Whole Foods
WHERE: 399 Fourth St., at Harrison Street
WHAT: Terrific selection, life-saving hot-food bar
INFO: (415) 618-0066 or www.wholefoodsmarket.com

Great organic selection of produce and meat. And their hot-food bar saves our lives every day.

FAVORITE SAN FRANCISCO EVENT
Pillow Fight
WHERE: Justin Herman Plaza
WHEN: Annually on Valentine’s Day
WHAT: Turns a quiet plaza into a frenzy of feathers

A chance to get medieval, go postal, and wield your trusty and fluffy pillow and knock the stuffing out of your fellow San Franciscans. This year, more than 2,000 people clobbered one another for over an hour until the streets were filled with pillows and feathers. This is a must-do if you have not gone.
