Voters approved question time, now it’s up to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to lay down the rules.
Those rules were proposed by Board of Supervisors President David Chiu in consultation with Mayor Ed Lee, who will be the first mayor to be required by law to appear before the board once a month and answer questions.
The rules eliminate the element of surprise. Questions must be submitted in advance. There is also a time limit.
The legislation that would enact these ground rules is before the board’s Rules Committee Thursday, which meets at 1:30 pm Thursday at City Hall in Room 263.
