Dermatologist leaves patients' medical records unaccessable

Medical records of some 33,000 patients of a Rhode Island dermatologist cannot be accessed because the doctor abandoned his multi-office practice and left the U.S. to run for Nigeria’s National Assembly. Dr. Nomate Kpea had practiced in Rhode Island since 1985, doing business as Skin Medicine and Surgery Centers. The Rhode Island Department of Health has now suspended his license, charging that Kpea left patients without any continuity of care and had many negligence complaints pending against him.
