Declawing of cats legislation up for vote

District 5 supervisor Ross Mirkarimi's legislation to ban the declawing of cats will be voted on today by the Board of Supervisors City Operations and Neighborhood Services Committee. The legislation says declawing has serious, adverse impacts on cats. If the ban is approved, those who do the declawing and anyone approving of the declawing, such as the owner, could face up to six months in jail or a fine of up to $1,000.
