The death on the Caltrain tracks Monday morning in Burlingame is being called an apparent suicide, according to the transit agency.

The man, identified as a 39-year-old from San Francisco, was struck by a northbound train near the Oak Grove Avenue pedestrian crossing around 6:20 a.m., the transit agency said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No passengers or crew were injured.

Service on the commuter rail line was delayed by up to an hour and a half, the agency said. Bus service was used to transport riders between the Caltrain Millbrae Station and the San Mateo Station.

This was the second Caltrain-related fatality this year. Last year, 11 people died in Caltrain-related incidents, and 19 the previous year.
