WHO: Paul Shin Devine, global supply manager at Cupertino-based Apple
WHAT: Federal authorities accused the 37-year-old of leaking corporate secrets in exchange for kickbacks from six Asian companies — located in South Korea, China, Taiwan and Singapore — that supplied accessories for iPhones and iPods. Apple has filed a civil lawsuit against Devine, accusing him of receiving more than $1 million in payments and bribes.
WHY: The accusations against Devine include using his position to obtain confidential info that he shared with contractors in order to negotiate a better price. Devine allegedly shared his kickbacks with a man in Singapore who has been charged with three counts of wire fraud and conspiracy.
