Crime recap: Umbrella thieves and gaggle of goons in San Francisco 

A panhandler stole a woman’s umbrella after she refused to give him money, and a gaggle of goons gang up on a guy after asking him where he’s from. Here's your San Francisco daily crime recap.

17th and South Van Ness streets
3:38 a.m. Friday

A 27-year-old woman was robbed of her umbrella and punched by a thug. The thug, a 28-year-old man, was upset when she declined to give him money. Police later found and arrested him. The umbrella was returned to its owner.

Eddy and Fillmore streets
3:10 a.m. Friday

A 21-year-old man heard noises while sleeping in his home. He investigated and found a burglar in his living room. The burglar fled with a Play Station 3 and laptop.

Clement Street and Eighth Avenue
1:45 a.m. Friday

A gang of goons in a car rolled up alongside a 27-year-old man, asked, “Where you from?,” then got out of the car and beat him up. They fled with his wallet, cash and Mexico identification card.

Saturn near Temple streets
11:12 p.m. Thursday

A cowardly robber had a gun but still grabbed a 46-year-old man from behind while demanding his belongings. The thug, man in his late 20s, fled with a wallet and cellphone.

Clay and Broderick streets
9:10 p.m. Thursday

A 17-year-old boy was robbed at gunpoint by three teenagers of similar age. No arrest has been made.
