Chamber honors SF businesses 

The San Francisco Chamber of Commerce held its 17th annual Excellence in Business award gala Wednesday night.

“The Ebbies were created to recognize businesses for what they do well — create jobs, contribute to the local economy and give back to the community,” chamber President and CEO Steve Falk said.

This year’s recipients are listed:

Small Business
PhilippeBecker, a family-owned branding and packaging design agency, focused on defining new brands, categories and markets.

Emerging Growth
Bauer’s Intelligent Transportation, a company that transports more than 6,000 people to and from work daily in state-of-the-art, hybrid, Wi-Fi equipped luxury vehicles.
Excellence in Business
Burr, Pilger & Mayer (BPM), an accounting and consulting firm.

Economic Development
The San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau, which markets The City and the Bay Area as the premier destination for conventions, meetings, events and leisure travel.

Building San Francisco
SPUR Urban Center, the new 4,500-square-foot Urban Center for the public-policy think tank.

Innovation Through
Technology
Zipcar, the car-sharing service, created its own technology platform using radio frequency identification to lock and unlock cars remotely.
