A woman found dead in a San Jose home Saturday morning has been identified as carjacking victim Cindy Nguyen, 60, of Campbell, but the man suspected of killing her in a violent crime spree remains at large.

Nguyen's body was reported around 8 a.m. Saturday in a home on the 500 block of North 12th Street, according to San Jose Police Sgt. Jason Dwyer.

Police say suspect Paul Reyes Castillo has ties to the address where she was found.

Castillo, a 33-year-old parolee wanted on a parole violation, is suspected of committing an armed robbery and shooting Friday morning a couple hours before Nguyen's carjacking.

A suspect in that robbery approached a man pumping gas at a Chevron station on Lincoln Avenue around 10 a.m., produced a handgun and fired at least one round, striking the man.

The 42-year-old victim was taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for treatment and was expected to survive his injuries.

The suspect fled the scene in a stolen vehicle, which was later found at The Plant shopping center at Monterey Road and Curtner Avenue, where Nguyen was apparently carjacked around noon. The shopping center is about a
mile away from the Chevron station.

A man resembling Castillo was spotted in the area near Mabury and North King Roads on Friday, and officers fired shots at him after he did something they considered threatening, Dwyer said. However, he fled into an apartment complex in the area and could not be located despite an extensive search.

Nguyen's car, a white 1997 Lexus, was found in the area after the shooting.

Castillo was last seen wearing a white or red shirt and dark-colored pants. He is described as a Hispanic man who is 5 feet 9 inches and weighs 210 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes and a thin mustache, police said.

Police consider Castillo armed and extremely dangerous. Anyone coming into contact with him should call 911 immediately.
