Brown to vote ‘no’ on Kagan

Sen. Scott Brown, R-Mass., announced Thursday he will vote against the nomination of Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court.

Brown just released a statement saying he found her to be “brilliant” but lacking in the right experience.

“I believe nominees to the Supreme Court should have previously served on the bench,” Brown said. “Lacking that, I look for many years of practical courtroom experience to compensate for the absence of of prior judicial experience. In Elena Kagan’s case, she is missing both.”

The Senate is expected to vote on Kagan’s nomination as early as Thursday night and with a handful of Republicans pledging to support her, she will easily get the 60 votes needed to win a place on the court.
