House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, disputed President Obama's attempt to blame him for the break-down of talks over the debt ceiling.
Boehner, in a Friday night press conference, said he had an agreement with Obama that would have boosted revenue by simplifying the tax code through eliminating loopholes, lowering rates, and broadening the base. He said they had $800 billion of revenue on the table, but then "the White House moved the goal post" and demanded another $400 billion in revenue.
In addition, Boehner said that Obama wasn't ready to get serious about reining in the nation's entitlement programs.
With talks breaking down with Obama, Boehner said he would be working with Senate Democrats toward a deal to taise the debt limit.
