Billy Ray Cyrus says that “Hannah Montana” — the show that made his daughter Miley a superstar — “destroyed my family.” The country singer turned actor told GQ magazine that he wishes the Disney hit had never happened: “I’d take it back in a second. For my family to be here and just be everybody okay, safe and sound and happy and normal.”
Billy Ray, who separated from wife Tish in the fall, says he hasn’t talked to Miley since video footage of her smoking the hallucinogenic herb salvia surfaced.
“I’m scared for her,” he confesses. “She’s got a lot of people around her … putting her in a great deal of danger. I know she’s 18, but I still feel like, as her daddy, I’d like to try to help. Take care of her just a little bit, to at least get her out of danger.”
The “Achy Breaky Heart” singer says his family problems stem from the pressure of Miley’s work and the handlers who have steered her in the wrong direction. “The damn show destroyed my family,” he fumes.
And though he appeared on “Hannah” with his daughter, Billy Ray insists he hasn’t profited from her fame.
“For the record,” he says, “to set it straight, I want to tell you: I’ve never made a dime off of Miley. You got a lot of people have made percentages off of her. I’m proud to say to this day I’ve never made one commissioned dollar, or dime, off of my daughter.”
We’re sure Billy Ray is indeed concerned for his daughter. But doesn’t it sound a bit like he’s reading from the Michael Lohan script?
Kim Kardashian originally made the society pages for being BFF with then-It Girl Paris Hilton. But since then, the childhood friends have gone their separate ways, with the rumor mill suggesting Paris resents how Kim’s star has eclipsed hers.
However, if there’s anyone out there fretting about their fractured friendship, you’ll be glad to know that the paparazzi magnets air-kissed and made up at a Grammys after-party, according to Radar Online.
“Kim approached Paris. Paris was with her mom and sister, Nicky,” relayed an onlooker. “Paris and Kim warmly embraced and genuinely seemed happy to see each other, which seemed to surprise fellow party-goers.”
“Kim wished Paris a happy birthday” — the heiress’s big day is Feb. 17 — “and Kim complimented Paris on her outfit,” added the eavesdropper. “Paris also complimented Kim and thanked her for the kind things she said about Paris in the ‘Harper’s Bazaar’ interview.” (“I think I learned a lot from her,” the socialite mused in the recent piece.)
Added the observer, “Kim was extremely classy in approaching Paris.”
Hmm ... why do we suspect this source is a member of Kamp Kardashian?
Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz were spotted lunching together on Valentine’s Day … but that doesn’t mean they’re getting back together. They were just spending some quality time with son Bronx, 2.
“They had lunch together [Monday] with Bronx at the Beverly Hills Hotel,” a source told People magazine. Ashlee is reportedly crashing at her parents’ Encino pad, and reconciliation is not in the cards. Friends say they rushed into marriage too young, per the mag.
“They just had a meal together with their son,” explained the source. “They’re both focused on making this transition as easy as possible for him.”
Well, they may have wed too young, but that’s impressively mature.
