BART to implement holiday schedule

BART will be tweaking its scheduling during the holidays, due to ridership levels that are expected to vary greatly from day to day.

To deal with the swarms of passengers likely to leave work early to travel, BART will run longer trains during the middle of the day on Christmas Eve. The following day, the transit agency will operate on its normal Sunday schedule, as ridership is expected to be low.

On New Year’s Eve, BART will run trains until 3 a.m. to provide service to late-night revelers. On Jan. 1, like Christmas Day, BART will revert back to its normal Sunday operating hours, with service beginning at 8 a.m.
