BART trains headed to San Francisco were experiencing delays of up to 20 minutes this morning after a train became stuck at the West Oakland station due to a mechanical problem, a BART spokesman said.
At about 7:50 a.m., a train became stuck at the West Oakland station. Passengers were taken off the train and put on another train that continued toward San Francisco, BART spokesman Jim Allison said.
The train was able to move again at about 8:30 a.m., and was taken to a maintenance yard where crews will try to determine what caused the problem, Allison said.
As of 9:05 a.m., BART riders headed to San Francisco were still facing delays of 15 to 20 minutes as the agency recovers from the problem, according to Allison.
