BART investigators are hoping to stop a love train after a man and woman filmed having sex in one of their cars went viral last week, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

The video surfaced Thursday and since that time has received more than 1.4 million views, more than BART's weekly roundtrip ridership, the Mercury News reports.

The incident highlights an opportunity for BART to test its new laws against such conduct. Two months ago, BART began enforcing a new state law that gives the agency the ability to bar passengers for up to a year for lewd conduct, such as urinating on a train and defacing property.

In last week's video, the man and woman are partially clothed and appear to have sexual intercourse in the back of a car, while someone across the aisle filmed it on their cellphone.

"Lewd activity is not only highly inappropriate on BART, it is illegal. It can and will get you banned from the entire system," BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost said Friday. "Do yourself and the families who ride BART a favor and keep it in the bedroom."

A BART spokeswoman said the agency's police force will review the video and keep an eye out for the participants. There was no mention of seeking DNA evidence from the seat.
