‘The Devil Wears Prada" star Anne Hathaway is rarely photographed without a million-watt smile. But the actress has revealed that she hasn’t always had such a positive outlook. The 24-year-old admits to the U.K.’s Tatler magazine that she suffered from depression as a teen.
But the good news is that Anne’s depressed days are behind her. In fact, she no longer even identifies with her former self.
"I said to my mom the other day, ‘Do you remember that girl? She has now gone, gone to sleep. She has said her piece and she is gone,’" Anne recalls. "But then I thought, ‘I so remember her, only she is no longer part of me.’ I am sorry she was hurting for so long."
The "Princess Diaries" actress concludes, "It’s all so negatively narcissistic to be so consumed with self."
It’s great that Anne feels better, but we can’t help but point out that she’s not a psychiatric professional, and depression is actually a serious disease.
Teri Hatcher is speaking out against gossip that she has a little help looking so young. "I don’t use Botox or Restylane and I’ve never had any surgery, no matter what you’ve read," the 42-year-old "Desperate Housewives" beauty declares in the new issue of the U.K.’s Glamour.
She admits that media speculation about her looks is painful: "That’s the one downside to fame — on any one day you can find loads of hideously mean things said about you online. … It hurts, you know?" (Yet apparently she can’t resist the urge to "torture [her]self" reading it.)
But the former "Lois and Clark" star ignores pressure to reverse the aging process artificially. Teri says she’s gotten to a place where she’s self-confident enough "that the appearance of a few more lines doesn’t really worry me so much." Refreshing to hear from a red-carpet fixture.
Watch Teri (who once was a San Francisco 49ers cheerleader, by the way) in a quick scene from ABC's megahit series "Desperate Housewives," below:
Comic couple Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy are so cute together, engagement rumors have surrounded them almost since they hooked up. But the funnyman says a wedding would ruin their relationship.
"We’re never getting married, but we’re never getting divorced, which is fantastic," Jim explains optimistically to "Access Hollywood."
As you might guess, the sophomoric star has been burned before — including a failed marriage to actress Lauren Holly and an aborted engagement to Renee Zellweger. But Jim says his exes readied him for true love: "I went through a lot of relationships that I believe were meant to define what I don’t want in another person and in myself, and it refocused me on what I do want."
As for a demonstration of his love for Jenny, Jim protests, "I bought her a Chloe purse. Isn’t that good enough? For God’s sake."
The man makes a good point.
After winning the first "America’s Next Top Model," Adrianne Curry went on to become a reality star in shows like "The Surreal Life" and "My Fair Brady" (which chronicled her courtship with "Surreal" housemate Christopher "Peter Brady" Knight). But even though "ANTM" opened doors for her, Adrianne is furious with the show.
The model and reality star says she and other contestants were poorly treated during the taping — and that despite posing for Revlon ads as part of her winning package, "I still haven’t got paid for the work I did for them!"
Adrianne lashed out at the Tyra Banks-hosted competition on her Myspace blog, reports Web site TMZ.com. She claims contestants were subjected to lousy living conditions and close living quarters in hopes of fostering drama.
Declares Adrianne, "‘Top Model’ felt like I was on a fierce ‘Survivor!’"
Sounds like a great crossover concept to us.
