After initially supporting the Central Subway that is intended to serve Chinatown and the Financial District, the former Board of Supervisors president is now an opponent. Peskin said the $1.6 billion price tag skyrocketed from initial estimates and ridership projections have plummeted to nearly a third of the original expectations. “Many factors have changed,” Peskin said.
