The only people who have any kind of right to comment on the legality of who came here with or with out proper paperwork and "rights" are the people who lived here prior to 1492. Even when CALIFORNIA WAS PART OF MEXICO, we don't hear about the same dehumanization towards indigenous as when the US ILLEGALLY TOOK OVER the western part of the US. As a descendant of Californianos, I can whole-heartedly and proudly say, the border crossed my family, and the lands, religion and culture promised to me and my descendants was taken away and therefore the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo is null and void in my eyes. So as far as I am concerned, California is by no means a representation of your anglo-dream. It never has been and never will be because THE RIGHTEOUS, REGARDLESS OF COLOR, CREED, RELIGION WILL ALWAYS TRIUMPH.
So glad that San Francisco and the Bay Area has always been the home for progressive thought and action. What doesn't get accomplished now, all us "anchor-babies" will accomplish soon enough.
Who do you think got John Avalos and Ed Lee (also an "anchor-baby") into office?
