With the help of David Urbiztondo and David Nayar, of the San Francisco Bicycle Dealers Association and the SFPD in September of 1995 the police began to register bicycles. The program was designed so that individuals wishing to register their bicycles would be directed to the participating bicycle shop closest to their home. The serial # of your bicycle would then be put into a central database which would be accessible by all police stations. The registration form and stickers cost $5.00 per bicycle. If you wish to find more info try contacting the traffic division at 553-9286. Officers Jim Miranda or Officer Barrett were involved back then. Good Luck.
