I'm an angry, SCUM Manifesto toting whore with a switchblade in her sleeve and a closet full of disguises.
Also, seriously, if you are able to afford expensive shit and you leave it out for your sex worker, whose price you likely haggled down, then damn right she took it. You get what you pay for (and they will get paid up).
Hang on. I'm a prostitute (indoor/hotel worker) and I have a "real job". Guess which one I deal with patriarchal bullshit more often that I'm expected to smile and take? Yeah. The "real job". I will never understand why a "real job" is seen to be "better" when it's the only place a marginalized woman can make more money than a man in our entire economy. For moral reasons? Moral reasons posted by white dudes? Yeah. Whatever. It's a job. Sometimes it sucks, sometimes it's great. A McDonald's server isn't a chef, but chefs aren't blend for glamorising the food industry. This is about control, patriarchy and capitalism, pure and dimple. Stop rescuing sex workers who don't want saving. Give us legal rights so we can report crimes against us instead without fear of rape/arrest by cops. That'd be useful.
The misogyny rampant on this thread leads me no doubt that we live in a world where men can decide to take the law into their own hands, especially when it comes to sex workers. That a woman in Texas would get shot and her murderer get away with it, now this, saddens my heart. We obviously care more about property and money than women's bodies. This whole dependence on "daddy issues" and misogynistic slurs, often wishing violence against women or perceived women who speak up (because to be called a woman is to be insulated, right?) also really creeps me the fuck out, and makes me wonder what Reddit has trained in socially incompetent men.
